‘We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.’

Collage. In art, you probably know that its refering to ‘the attaching of different materials onto a backing’. But we think of collage in a much broader sense. Take a moment to think about your daily routines: you’re often collaging without even realizing it!

From the moment you get dressed, you're assembling an outfit made up of different pieces. We collage in the kitchen, creating meals from leftovers. You collage when you compile a music playlist, and you collage in how you choose to style and decorate your home.

For us, collage is a way of thinking—a holistic approach and creative mindset that embraces the idea of ‘reuse, reinvent, and reimagine.’ We believe in championing secondhand items, encouraging thriftiness, and seeing beauty and potential in things that might otherwise be discarded. Throwaway culture and single-use products need to be left behind!

At That Paper Joint, we are committed to sustainable creativity, using secondhand materials whenever possible. The world is already filled with so many amazing things, and we just want to have fun playing with what’s around us. So, as a business, we've made some decisions and lifestyle choices that we hope will inspire you:

  • We bank with a certified B Corp.

  • We use recycled packaging whenever we can.

  • Our studio is furnished with secondhand items & materials.

  • We choose an energy provider that is investing in renewables.

  • Our refreshments are always vegetarian or vegan.

  • We plant a tree for every purchase made on our online store.

We aren’t perfect, and we make mistakes—but that’s okay. As Anne-Marie said, “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”
